the show was excellent, and it was such a surprise to find matt and rhiannon at ghiradelli square on saturday! thanks for coming, you guys!

mom took some pictures of our sunday, which included traipsing down to the city library to see a dance show and making tacos (with mom's famous chicken!) at seth's house. she wrote today that her disk was mysteriously empty when she got home. :(



a couple of reviews are up on websites, and as usual, san francisco critics don't "get" what we do. one kind patron responded to a review implying that you can't apply the same "modern dance" criteria to a company that claims to have a different style and goals entirely. meanwhile, we had packed audiences, exuberant and positive feedback, and SO MUCH FUN! i've been talking to other dancers this week about this process of learning to work with reviews. the first time you read one that's not so positive, you focus entirely on the negative comments and get pretty bummed that you made such a poor impression on someone with work you're really proud of. then, you read them again and again, maybe look up a picture of the [older female] reviewer on the internet, re-focus on what's important to you as a dancer, and realize you're still really proud of what you did. to each her own.

check out rebecca's wings!! this is one of the most unique tattoos i've seen in a long time, and it's perfect for bex. there's a rumor that they get filled in with color soon. go goddess!

it was windy and raining all through the night. it's still comin' down. feels like home!

(except, as you see above, hardly anyone here has a rain coat - myself included)

showtime

it's show week. we had our final rehearsal last night before moving into the cowell theater. the crew loads in today, we tech tomorrow night for six hours, then have our final dress rehearsal on wednesday before opening on thursday. we're all pooped, but excited. it's going to be a good one.

We're back! We got in last night, and we're right back to the grind today. I took about 200 photos, so I'll be working on a way for you to see all of them soon. In the meantime, here's a little preview...

greetings from kaunas! it's 330 a.m., and it's time for bed, but just a note to say it's lovely over here, and the performance went *very well. we went out for drinks with a group of our student ambassadors, and you'll love the photos.

now, it's time for smooth sailing. class and sight-seeing tomorrow. more of the same on saturday (including a limon master class).

the latest rumors are that weather will be in the 50's, layers will be needed backstage, and don't try to take turkey jerky - no meat goes international.

i know lithuanians use email as much as the rest of us, but i'm not sure how much cyber cafes are in vogue in kaunas. i figure it's a large city, so my chances of checking in at least once during the trip seem good. check back here, or check your email for news of a safe and exciting adventure! otherwise, i'll be back at the screen on tuesday the 12th.
